New President Appointed for TeliaSonera
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva / TeliaSonera's Board of Directors has appointed Lars Nyberg as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of TeliaSonera AB. He will assume his position on 3 September, 2007.
Lars Nyberg has a long and successful career both internationally and in Sweden. Currently he is the Chairman of Micronic Laser Systems AB, IBS AB, DataCard Inc. and director of Autoliv Inc. and Snap-on, Inc.
Between 1995 and 2003 Lars Nyberg was Chairman and CEO of the US-based IT company NCR Corp. (He continued as Chairman of the company until 2005. Previously, Lars Nyberg held several managerial positions in Philips, and was a member of Philips Group Management Committee.
Lars Nyberg was born in 1951 and holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, University of Stockholm. He lives in Stockholm, Sweden.

The present President and CEO of TeliaSonera AB, Anders Igel, will leave office on 31 July. The Executive Vice President and CFO, Kim Ignatius, will take charge as acting President and CEO at that time.
Anders Igel became the President and CEO of TeliaSonera in 2002 in connection with the merger between Telia AB and Sonera Corporation.
TeliaSonera, as well as the telecom industry as a whole, has major opportunities and challenges ahead. Growth has to be the focus as well as continuous restructuring due to the migration from traditional fixed to mobile- and IP-based services. For TeliaSonera's part, value enhancement related to the company's positions in Eurasia, including Russia and Turkey, is of great importance.
The Company is a shareholder of Azerbaijan's mobile operator Azercell Telecom through Fintur Holdings BV, with 58.55% of Fintur's share belonging to TeliaSonera.
