BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. As many as 468,100 foreigners and stateless persons from 157 countries visited Azerbaijan from January through May 2022, up by 2.2 times on an annual basis, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, 24.7 percent out of the total number of foreign visitors came from Russia, 24.8 percent – from Turkiye, 13.8 percent – from Iran, 5.6 percent – from Georgia, 2.7 percent – from Ukraine, 3.7 percent – from Saudi Arabia, 2.8 percent – from the UAE, 2.4 percent from Pakistan and India each.

Some 1.7 percent of foreigners and stateless persons accounted for Kazakhstan, 1.3 percent – Kuwait, 1.2 percent – the UK, and 12.9 percent – for other countries.

Moreover, 44.2 percent of visitors arrived in Azerbaijan by rail and road, 54 percent by air, and 1.8 percent by sea.

In the reporting period, the number of visitors from Oman increased by 505.9 times, Saudi Arabia – by 198.2 times, Kuwait – by 172.8 times, the UAE – by 69.5 times, Bahrain – by 70.8 times, Israel – by 9.1 times, Pakistan – by 44 times, India – by 26.5 times, the US – by six times, France – by 3.3 times, Kazakhstan – by five times year on year.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign guests from Russia grew by 1.6 times, the UK – by 2.1 times, Ukraine – by 2.2 times, Iran –by 1.8 times, Turkiye – by 2.1 times, Georgia – by 17.7 percent compared to the first five months of 2022.
