Cargo movements in Iranian ports down

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 1 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to May 4, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the report of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, 14.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting period. While in the same period last Iranian year, about 14.7 million tons of cargo had been loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports.

So, 5.6 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned period. This is an increase of 9.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (5.13 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 140,000 tons. This is a decrease of 36.6 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (220,000 tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 1.75 million tons, which is 27.4 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (2.41 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 1.99 million tons showing a 39.9 percent increase compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (1.42 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 4.75 million tons. This is a decrease of 12.8 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 5.45 million tons).

The liquid bulk cargo was 440,000 tons. This is 57.8 percent more than in the same period of the last Iranian year (280,000 tons).

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Arvandkenar, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Tiab, Jask, Chabahar, Charak, Chavibdeh, Khorramshahr, Dayyer, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Bandar Lengeh, and Noshahr.
