President of Kazakhstan to pay official visit to Iran

(gazeta.kz) - Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, will pay an official visit to Iran. Kassymzhomart Tokayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, has stated this at a briefing today, December 14, after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki.

"We have reached an agreement on preparation of the Nazarbayev visit to Teheran. It is a very important event in the history of the bilateral relationship," - he has said.

"We must go ahead... We have a good volume of the mutual commercial and economic turnover, 5 years ago it was around $400 million, now it is $1.5 billion," - the Kazakh FM has observed, reports Trend.

Mr. Tokayev has also said that "a summit of the Caspian littoral states is supposed to take place in Teheran next year."

The diplomat has stressed that at his meeting with Mr. Mottaki they exchanged opinions "on a wide range of issues related with the regional situation" stressing that "both sides hold identical positions on the international situation."

According to the MFA, the mutual bilateral turnover according to the results of the last year was $900 million 909.7 thousand, of which the export amounted to $886 million 118.3 thousand, the import to $14 million 791.5 thousand.
