BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 26. The year 2024 has been declared the Year of the Environment by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Trend reports.
Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan's Cabinet of Ministers, delivered this comment at an extended meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Bishkek.
Japarov also stated that the Year of the Environment action plan will be adopted today. He stressed the significance of developing cooperation in environmental preservation, climate change adaptation, and impact mitigation.
"We propose to join forces in the fight against climate change, air and water pollution, and the preservation of biodiversity," Japarov said.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government will take place in Pakistan.
The meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government is attended by the Prime Ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Premier of the State Council of China, the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, and the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan.
