Turkmenistan opens hunting season

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Aug.10 / Trend, H. Hasanov /

Hunting season opened throughout public lands and hunting grounds, except in specifically protected territories. The hunting season will last until March 10, 2012, the country's media outlets reported with reference to the country's Ministry of Nature Protection.

The current rules specify species of animals, hunting of which is permitted within entire season or fully prohibited and permitted only strictly specified time.

According to the rules, with which hunters can get familiarized in the Turkmen National Hunters and Fishermen Union, two rest days (Monday and Tuesday) were set during the week. Hunting is not allowed during adverse weather conditions - heat, frost and continued snow or ice cover.

Inspectors of the Nature Protection Ministry of Turkmenistan expect hunters to comply with hunting quotas of various species of animals in accordance with these rules, as well as fulfilling measures of fire safety in places of hunting or fishing.

Hunters are personally responsible for the proper use of firearms. At the same time, trade or purchase of trophies is banned in the country.

As a tradition, the season is carried out taking into account the available information on the number and status of wildlife population in different regions of the country and separate hunting grounds.
