Uztransgaz’s net profit increases by 8 percent in 2012

In 2012, "Uztransgaz" joint-stock company, which supervises gas transportation and supplies in Uzbekistan, achieved a 1.457 trillion Soum net income compared to a 1.346 trillion net income in the previous year (an increase of 8.2 percent), the company's audited balance sheet said on Monday.

According to the report, Uztransgaz's net proceeds from sales in 2012 amounted to 4.918 trillion soums (a decrease of 1.5 percent), gross profit from sales of 2.918 trillion Soums (a decrease by 4.9 percent).

The report did not specify the volume of natural gas supplied from production companies to the gas transmission system or the volume of its exports.

The company's total expenditures in 2012 increased by 3 percent to 804.311 billion Soums, the expenses for financial activities declined by 10 percent to 216.966 billion Soums. The profit from financing activity decreased last year by 31.4 percent to 148.118 billion Soums.

According to the audited balance sheet, Uztransgaz's assets in 2012 amounted to 11.029 trillion soums (an increase of 5.2 percent), including long-term assets of 3.63 trillion Soums (a decrease by 4.6 percent), current assets increased by 10.8 percent to 7.399 trillion Soums.

The prime cost increased by 4 percent to 2 trillion soums.

Uztransgaz's liabilities increased by 0.6 percent to 3.909 trillion soums. The long-term liabilities increased by 2.3 times to 290.888 billion Soums, current liabilities decreased by 3.7 percent to 3.619 trillion Soums.

The company's own funds as of late 2012 amounted to 7.12 trillion Soums compared to 6.6 trillion Soums the previous year (an increase of 7.9 percent) taking into account the share capital worth 460.844 billion Soums.

"Uztransgaz", a subsidiary of the "Uzbekneftegaz" National Holding Company, controls the main gas pipelines. Currently, the total length of the Uzbek main gas pipelines is about 14,000 kilometers. "Uztransgaz" exploits 24 compressor and more than 300 gas distribution stations.

Uzbekistan ranks second among CIS countries in terms of natural gas production and tenth among the largest gas-producing countries in the world. According to the official statistics, natural gas production in Uzbekistan decreased in 2012 from 2011 by 0.2 percent to 62.911 billion cubic meters.

The official exchange rate is 2.096.19 Soums/$1 on July 9.
