Sanctions against Iran are not an effective tool, and imposing them will turn against the Western countries, Iran's Deputy FM Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in Moscow at the press conference, Itar-Tass reported.
"Iran is a big country with rich resources and we are able to use them," Abdollahian said. "We live with the imposed sanctions, and I say that they are not an effective way. Those who impose the sanctions should think about their own interests, because the damage can be massive."
Speaking about Israel attacking Iran, Abdollahian noted that at the current time, Israel does not have an opportunity to attack the Islamic Republic.
"Israel is currently in a very weak position for any attack," Abdollahian noted. "They do know that for Israel there will be big consequences, if the attack takes place."
With regard to the Syrian issue, Abdollahian noted that Iran will be coordinating its position with that of Russia.
"International community should unite regarding the peaceful solution to the Syrian issue," Abdollahian said. " We do not have any disputed regarding this with Russia, and we will further continue to coordinate our position with Russia."
Amir Abdollahian also spoke about the "Al-Qaeda" terrorist network that operates on the Syrian territory.
He noted that Tehran is surprised that the Western countries continue to arm the so-called resistance groups in Syria.
"Al-Qaeda is operating there, and it is quite active," Abdollahian underscored. "Thousands of people suffer from that and the whole region can suffer from that as well."
