(IRNA) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will hold talks on the latest situation in the Middle East when both leaders meet in Berlin on December 10, German deputy government spokesman Thomas Steg announced here Friday during a news conference, reports Trend.
The meeting will focus on the latest developments in the Near and Middle East as well as bilateral and international issues, Steg said.
The Merkel spokesperson stressed there are "hopeful signs" for a diplomatic solution to the Mideast crisis.
Steg added that Germany would use its means as the next rotating EU president for a diplomatic settlement of the Mideast conflict.
The German official also welcomed the latest French Mideast peace initiative, pledging Berlin's support.
