Iran's science production rank has been upgraded to 6 from 23 six years ago in the Scopus bibliographic database, Iranian Science, Research and Technology Minister Mohammad Farhadi said.
"Over the past six years, we ranked the 18th in the ISI database. We are second in the region and among Muslim countries," Iran's Fars news agency quoted Farhadi as saying on August 8.
Farhadi said in May that Iran accounts for 1.5 percent of the world's science production, which has currently reached 1.54 percent.
Scopus is a bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations for academic journal articles. It covers nearly 22,000 titles from over 5,000 publishers in the scientific, technical, medical, and social sciences (including arts and humanities).
