Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 2 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

The Tbilisi City Court has again released the former head of General Inspection under Georgian Interior Ministry Tengiz Gunava on bail of 10 000 lari. Thus, the court dismissed the Prosecutor's Office request for Gunava's two months imprisonment.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia detained the ex-chief of the General Inspection under the Interior Ministry Tengiz Gunava for the second time. This time he is accused of misappropriating 300 liters of gasoline.

The detainee's lawyer called the charges absurd and far-fetched. "Someone really wants Gunava to be in prison, and he is in prison on the trumped-up charges, although it isn't a serious crime and there was no need in arrest," the lawyer said.

It should be noted that Gunava was arrested once in mid-November on charges of drug use and illegal possession of weapon. However, the court not only dismissed the charges but also filed a suit against policemen, accusing them of planting drugs and arms on Gunava.

According to the lawyer, the police supposedly prolong investigation of this case.
