Saif al-Islam, son of slain leader Moamer Gaddafi, will be ensured a fair trial and receive good treatment, Libya's Prime Miniter Abdul-Rahim al-Keib said Saturday, dpa reported.
"I want to assure Libya and everyone that Saif al-Islam Gaddafi and those arrested with him will all be put on fair trial," he told a press conference in the northwestern town of Zintan.
"We respect international jurisdiction, but it is our people's right to put him on trial here," Al-Keib added.
Al-Keib and the head of military council of Zintan said that Gaddafi's son would be treated "according to Islam's teachings on fair treatment of prisoners of war."
