Actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, have been arrested in the Canadian city of Vancouver on an outstanding US warrant, the Globe and Mail newspaper reported Friday.
A California court has issued an arrest warrant for Quaid, 60, and his 47-year-old wife after they failed to appear for a hearing related to their arrest last month for squatting in a house, dpa reported.
In a hearing before a Canadian immigration judge, they requested refugee status in Canada and Quaid said he hoped to continue his film career there, the newspaper said.
The pair had allegedly been illegally living in the Santa Barbara, California home where they had previously resided. The owner has accused them of causing damages amounting to 5,000 dollars.
