By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Nineteen MPs from Turkey’s Democratic People’s Party may be deprived of parliamentary immunity, the country’s media reported Dec. 4.

On Dec. 4, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Ministry of Justice with a demand to lift the immunity of a number of MPs from the Democratic People’s Party.

The decision is related to the statements of MPs from the Democratic People’s Party in support of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) terrorist group.

In June, the police of Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir Province detained an MP from Democratic People's Party, Osman Baydemir.

In general, 11 MPs from Democratic People's Party, including co-chairs of the party Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag, have been recently arrested in Turkey.

The MPs from Democratic People's Party are accused of creating a criminal organization, membership in a terrorist organization, and other crimes.
