AZERBAIJAN TURNS TO BOLOGNA EDUCATION SYSTEM FROM 2005/2006 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Azerbaijani Education Ministry will turn to the implementation of action plan on application of the Bologna education system in the country from 2005/2006 academic year, Trend reports quoting Misir Mardanov, the Education Minister, as saying during the reception of Richard Kortum and Sally Lin, the representatives of the U.S. East Tennisi State University.

According to Mardanov, the Ministry has developed an action plan on implementation of recommendations of the Bologna process. “Azerbaijan plans to carry out a part of the action plan till the ministers’ next conference, which will be held in London in 2007,” he added.

The Ministry plan to start the accreditation of universities, turn to the credit system in some universities, and free issuing of diplomas and establishment of student councils.

Kortum appreciated Azerbaijan’s joining the Bologna process and mentioned the necessity in training of highly skilled teachers.
