Uzbekistan's GDP growth to exceed 8% in 2014

Growth in gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan will be 8.1 percent in 2014, according to the report " The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 2014" prepared by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

Growth in gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan will be 8.1 percent in 2014, according to the report " The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 2014" prepared by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

In 2013 Uzbekistan`s GDP increased by 8 percent due to low demand and the price of gold, which is reflected in the country's exports, the report said.

The commission`s experts predict that the rate of inflation in Uzbekistan will be reduced from 12.1 percent in 2013 to 11 percent in 2014.

The country's GDP grew by 8 percent in 2013 compared to 2012 when the inflation rate was 6.8 percent, according to the official statistics of Uzbekistan.

In 2014, the Uzbek government plans to ensure GDP growth by 8.1 percent, industrial production - by 8.3 percent, agriculture - by six percent, increase in the volume of capital investments - by 9.5 percent. The inflation is planned to be kept within 6-7 percent.
The official exchange rate on August 7 is 2,336.20 som/$1.
