Kazakhstan has made impressive progress in economic, political and social development during its 20 years of independence, Oil Minister Sauat Mynbayev said at the VI Eurasian forum KAZENERGY "Kazakhstan: 20 years of sustained growth, new horizons of investments and sustainable cooperation" on Tuesday.
"About $104 billion foreign and domestic investments were made in the Kazakh hydrocarbon sector from 1995-2010, Mynbayev said.
He also said that Kazakhstan must realize its growing role in the Eurasian energy security system with great responsibility.
"The strategic international initiatives of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, announced in 2011, are aimed at maintaining stability in energy markets, Mynbayev said. "I am sure that the forum will contribute to strengthening the public-private partnership and investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan."
The Minister said that the oil and gas sector was the driving force of economic and social reforms held in Kazakhstan.
