Iran's total home appliances output increased by 8 percent in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - November 22).
The Head of Iran's Home Appliances Industries Organization Habibollah Ansari said that the country's home appliances market is currently worth around $8 billion, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported on Dec. 27.

"Domestic manufacturers provided some 75 percent of the country's needs," he said.

"Iran's refrigerators, washing machine, and television production increased by 30, 28, and 22 percent, respectively, in the first eight months of current year," he official added.

"Iran annually exports over $250 million worth of home appliances," Ansari noted.

"This year, customs' tariff for importing home appliances reached 85 percent from the previous figure of 50-55 percent. This created a good opportunity for domestic manufacturers to boost their production," he said.

According to the official, Tehran will host the 14th edition of International Home Appliances Exhibition from January 5-8.

"Some 216 domestic and 53 foreign companies will attend the event.
