The second commercial dock will be built in Iran's Kish Island.

Ali Asghar Mounesan, Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization, said 1,700 billion rials (about $50 million) has been allocated for building the dock, Iran's IRIB reported on Dec. 29.

Construction of the dock started in September, he noted.

Once the dock comes on stream, ships with 35,000 metric tons of capacity can berth at the dock, he said. The dock will be 350 meters long.

Currently, a dock with the capacity to berth ships with 5,000 metric tons of capacity is operating in Kish Island.
