Baku, Azerbaijan, Apr.14

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Ten countries in OPEC want ceiling production to be cut, Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said.

"However, OPEC decides based on voting by all of its members. Even if one of the members opposes an issue, the organization will not decide about the issue," Iran's Shana news agency quoted Zanganeh as saying April 14.

"Those who sought to damage us made every effort, which led to the current situation of the market," he said, hinting at Saudi Arabia's policy to slash prices in the market.

"According to our forecast, we can increase oil production to the pre-sanctions level within a few months. Those who say it will take some years for Iran to reach the same level of production should wait and see our performance," he added.

At OPEC's 166th meeting in Vienna on Nov. 27, the member countries decided to keep oil production quota unchanged at the level of 30 million barrels per day.

Zanganeh was quoted as saying before the meeting that, "Some of the members say that the organization should keep its current quota, but the analysts believe that the supply is more than demands, and the situation will be worst next year."
