Georgia will open 13 diplomatic missions this year, Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said.
"Although countries like Sweden and the Baltic states have reduced their diplomatic missions due to the global economic crisis, the Georgian government has decided to expand its corps," she said.
The deputy minister considers Georgia's global presence important.
"We will be able to maintain at least one diplomat in each of these countries at the expense of the Foreign Ministry's budget," she said.
The FM plans to cover Brazil, Canada, Serbia, Croatia, Norway, South Korea, Slovenia, Ireland, Mexico, Portugal, South Africa, Finland and Albania.
