Armenian state institutions make deductions from salaries without warning

Armenian state institutions, such as schools, universities, ministries, medical institutions have made deductions from January salaries of their employees, Armenian Epress.am website reported.

In an interview with Epress.am some employees of state institutions said that when they tried to find out what happened, they were informed that deductions were made from mandatory payments, which are provided by the law on funded pension.

The cassation court has suspended this law's activity until a final decision in late March, but on Feb. 3, the labor and social affairs minister of Armenia, Artem Asatryan told parliament that only employees are exempt from sanctions and obligations of employers have not changed in line with the decision of the cassation court.

Most employees of state institutions were not informed about the deduction, moreover, they were not asked about what collection fund they prefer.

An order was issued in one of the universities of Yerevan informing employees that the withheld sum will be returned if the constitutional court decides to cancel the law on March 28.
