NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai arrived in Georgia to prepare the NATO Deputy Secretary General's visit to Georgia.

"The purpose of the NATO Deputy Secretary General's visit to Georgia, scheduled for early 2015, is to prepare for the meeting of defense ministers of NATO member-states," Appathurai told reporters.

"This meeting will be held in February 2015," he said. "The important decisions concerning Georgia will be made there."

Appathurai's visit to Georgia will last until December 5. Georgia's opportunities and obligations will be thoroughly discussed as part of this visit.

The NATO summit was held in Wales on September 4-5. A package of measures on facilitating Georgia's joining the alliance was approved. A training center is planned to be opened in Georgia as part of a package of measures. NATO servicemen and member-states will be trained.

Appathurai will hold the first meeting in the Georgian Defense Ministry. The program of the visit includes the talks with Georgian Prime Minister, Speaker of the Parliament, representatives of the parliamentary majority and the minority.
