The death toll in devastating floods in the Philippines has reached 1,002, the Office of Civil Defence said Wednesday, DPA reported.
Some 650 deaths occurred in the southern port city of Cagayan de Oro, while 283 were killed in nearby Iligan City, said Benito Ramos, head of the disaster relief agency.
Ramos said the death toll was still expected to rise as an undetermined number of missing have yet to be accounted for. He added rescue workers were continuing search and retrieval operations.
