Georgia reduces import of construction materials from Azerbaijan

In January-November 2015, Georgia imported 83,800 tons of building materials made in Azerbaijan, which is nearly 40 percent less than in the same period in 2014, according to a report issued by the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

The value of imported construction materials from Azerbaijan to Georgia accounted to $11.1 million, which is twice less compared to Jan.-Nov. 2014, the report said.

Georgia imported 139,280 tons of construction materials, worth $23.8 million, from Azerbaijan from Jan. -Nov. 2014.

Construction materials accounted for 2.2 percent of the total volume of Azerbaijani exports to Georgia from Jan. - Nov. 2015.

In total, Georgia imported $493.9 million in products from Azerbaijan during the eleven months of 2015, or 12.7 percent less than in the same period in 2014.

Azerbaijan ranks fourth among the countries from which Georgia imports products.

Turkey is the leading country, in terms of the volume of imports to Georgia, valued at $1.21 billion, followed by China - $535.28 million and Russia - $534.32 million.

Georgia primarily imports gas, oil products, electricity and construction materials from Azerbaijan.
