Earthquake in Iran injures 18 people

Eighteen people were injured as a result of an earthquake in Mormori and Abdanan cities of Iranian Ilam Province, Iranian television official website iribnews quotes Abdanan Executive Power Head Fazlullah Nosrati as saying.
Nosrati said as a result of the earthquake more than 30 houses damaged and 70 percent of houses in villages in the suburbs of the Mormori city suffered damages.
An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Mormori and Abdanan cities of Iranian Ilam Province on Iranian-Iraqi border at 14:39 local time yesterday.
Power lines and communications were also destroyed in Mormori.
All rescue forces of Mormori and Abadan, as well as in towns in the vicinity were alerted.
