Azerbaijan’s Political Parties Attitudes towards Elections Considerably Improved: Central Election Commissions Chairman
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S. Ilhamgizi / The attitude of Azerbaijan's political parties towards the upcoming elections has considerably improved as compared to the previous years, Mazahir Panahov, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, said.
Some opposition parties state they would boycott the upcoming presidential elections. 'Political parties for the most part, however, are thinking about their participation in the presidential elections. They understand that participation at the elections would be supported in the country and in the world," Panahov said.
According to Panahov, political parties in other countries are not represented in the election commission as it is in Azerbaijan. For example, in Georgia, the members and the chairman of the election commission are appointed by the President, Panahov added.
