Israel, Jerusalem, 1 January / Trend corr. R.Abdullayev / The official visit of J.W.Bush, the President of the United States, to the Middle East demonstrated one more time that the United States as one superpower of the modern world, is the most reliable ally of Israel, Efraim Inbar, an Israeli expert believe.

Bush's first visit to the Middle East since he came into the presidential post began from Israel on 10 January. The discussions, started during the conference in Annapolis in November 2007, directed to accelerate the regulation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by the end of 2008 were continued. Bush also paid a visit to the Palestinian Autonomy. It is expected that Bush will pay a visit to Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

"The United States and Israel are strategic allies in the Middle East and Washington considers the visit as a demonstration of true friendship, cooperation and partnership," Pr.Efraim Inbar, the Director of Begin-Sadat Strategic Research Centre at the Bar-Ilansk University in Tel-Aviv, said to Trend on 11 January.

According to Inbar, the interests of the United States and Middle East are usually implemented through the cooperation and strategic partnership between the United States and Israel. These countries, Inbar said, aim to provide the freedom of the citizen's principle.

"The Bush Administration demonstrated a range of times its intension to back the democracy in other countries, referring to the cooperation with such regimes which in particular was simplified thanks to the common system of values. Israel is the one countries in the Middle East with a political system, similar west democracy model, is a guard of American ideas and values in the region," Inbar stated.

The American President, Inbar believes, needs to reach success as negative feelings exist from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to Inbar, the democratic transformation in these countries strengthened inters ethnic and inter religious tension.

From the other point of view, the United States cannot dictate circumstances to countries. "Today, Bush does not have the same force to get things moving for the peace process in the Middle East. Neither Mahmud, nor Ehud Olmert can be true leaders of the peace process, as both leaders have no political legitimacy. The leaders understand that the both Israeli and Palestinian people are not ready to compromise in such fundamental issues like the border, Palestinian refugees and the status of Jerusalem," Inbar considers.
