Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 January / Trend corr K. Ramazanova / The world community's support for peaceful settlement of conflicts should be intensified, Valeriy Chechelashvili, the Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova), said to journalists.

"That also concerns the UN's draft resolution on frozen conflicts in the GUAM territory, which was released by the General Assembly at the end of last year. And now our countries are holding active consultations with our potential allies to achieve a progress in the settling," Chechelashvili said.

"We are ready to cooperate with any organization or an initiative group which would assist us in peaceful settling of on-going conflicts," he said.

As to Kosovo, he said that international community unanimously believes that Kosovo is a special case and it cannot be a precedent for settlement of any other frozen conflict.

"We will patiently explain our position at all international forums. We are gaining more and more associates supporting our position," Chechelashvili said.

Establishment of peacekeeping forces of GUAM has never been among the most urgent tasks of the organization, he said. "Though the issue is still being considered."
