Azerbaijani President’s Program of Visit to Davos Published

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 January / Тrend corr S. Agayeva / The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will hold a range of bilateral meetings with the Presidents and the Government heads of member countries of the World Economic Forum to take place in the Swiss town of Davos on 23-27 January.

"During his visit to Davos to last from 23 to 25 January, the President will meet with the President of the Swiss Confederation Paskal Kuschpa, the Ukrainian President Victor Yushenko, the Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, and the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Israel Tsipi Livni," the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Switzerland Elchin Amirbeyov said over the phone from Davos on 22 January.

Ilham Aliyev will also meet with official representatives of large companies such as BP, Microsoft, as well as banks and financial institutions who are to attend the Davos forum, the Ambassador said.

The Azerbaijani President was also invited to the energy summit in Davos. The heads of the world's largest energy companies and the presidents of countries supplying power resources to Europe will also be in attendance.

According to tradition, since the establishment of the forum in 1971, the heads of the largest companies in the world (from oil and finance giants to world news agencies) annually meet in Davos. According to the organizers, in 2008, some 800 representatives of big business will be in attendance.
