Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 April /corr. Trend K.Ramazanova/ Significant progress is recorded in Azerbaijan's fulfillment of its obligations undertaken before the Council of Europe, said the Chairman of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, Per Sergen.

"Re-considering the Electoral Code and Law on Freedom of Assembly is already a progress," Sergen said.

According to him, a huge amount of progress has been achieved in the court system. In addition, he said that despite of this, it needs to hold reforms in presenting the court proceedings for satisfaction of the sides in a balanced manner.

"For this purpose, it needs to increase the number of judges and lawyers, and should hold trainings for them," he said.

The Council of Europe's official said that Azerbaijan has potential to hold the reforms. " Azerbaijan's economy is developing rapidly, the level of educated people is quite high, and it is an indicator of a bright future," he said.

Moreover, Sergen stated that the Council of Europe supports the activity of the working group on political prisoners. "This activity will be continued until this problem is settled," he added.
