Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 November / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The Azerbaijani opposition party lodged a complaint at the Court of Appeal in Baku.

"Although the party appealed to the Sabail District Court on violation of right of Freedom of Assembly by the City Administration in October 2007, the court rejected the appeal," Ali Orujov, the press secretary of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP), told Trend on 6 November.

On 7 September and 17 September in 2007 the ANIP appealed to the Baku City Administration to get permission to hold demonstration at Fuzuli square, protesting against tariff policy of the government. The City Administration rejected their appeal. Although the party appealed to the Sabail District Court after it, action of the ANIP was rejected in accordance with decision of the court, dated 22 December 2007.

The Supreme Court satisfied cassation appeal of the party and sent the action to the first juridical instance for re-examination.

Re-examining the appeal, the Sabail District Court rejected it, again.

The party regarded this decision as unjust and lodged appeal complaint again.

The ANIP was established in 1992 and is the first officially registered party. Mammadov was a founder and chairman of this party until 2004. At present, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Society.
