Azerbaijan calls on Iran to cooperate in the oil-and-gas industry.
Possible cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in the oil-and-gas sector may be beneficial to both countries, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a meeting with Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki on Feb. 19.
The use of Caspian oil-and-gas resources plays an important role in ensuring international energy security, Mammadyarov said.
The ministers met as part of the seventh meeting of an Azerbaijani-Iranian joint economic cooperation commission.
The meeting involved ministers and heads of various departments.
Documents are expected to be signed between the two countries as a result of the meeting.
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran hit $452.874 million in 2008.
