Azerbaijan supports solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in accordance with the international law. The UN Security Council adopted four resolutions in this regard, which require unconditional release of Azerbaijani lands, said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a briefing in Baku on July 8 as a result of talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is on visit to Azerbaijan, AzTV state television reported.
"This aggression must be stopped, and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be restored," said the Head of State.
The policy of ethnic cleansing conducted by Armenia against Azerbaijan, and the military aggression led to the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands and over one million people became refugees and internally displaced persons.
"With regards to the Armenian side's theses on the right of peoples to self-determination, I want to note that the Armenian people have already gained independence. Armenia is an independent state and, of course, this issue [Nagorno-Karabakh] can only be solved within the territorial integrity," Ilham Aliyev said.
