Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec.24 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia /
The Upper Lars checkpoint on the Georgia-Russia border will likely open in March, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said today at a briefing in Tbilisi.
She added that the decision to open the checkpoint was adopted during Georgian-Russian talks held under Switzerland's assistance and mediation.
"Oral agreements have been reached. However, the experts will meet for two weeks and finally an agreement will be finalized," she said.
Kalandadze stated that the checkpoint will open not only for cargo, but also Georgian companies and Georgian citizens heading to Russia.
"We value these negotiations and the agreement reached as part of the talks. We expect them to be finalized," she added.
