Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad invited his Turkmen Counterpart Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov to pay an official visit to Tehran.
Berdimuhammedov accepted this invitation with gratitude. The date of visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels, a source close to the negotiations said.
Ahmadinejad visited Ashgabat to attend the opening ceremony of the Dovletabat-Sarakhs-Khangeran interstate gas pipeline scheduled for Jan.6, in the Mariy region of Turkmenistan.
