Azerbaijan, Baku, March 4 / Trend , A.Huseynbala/

Presenting the issue of "false genocide" to discussion at the U.S. Congress does not correspond to either the criteria of truth or the criteria of justice, said deputy chairman and executive secretary of the Azerbaijan's ruling party.

"It is regrettable that the U.S. Congress attaches such importance to false issue - "fictional Armenian genocide" which has no trace in the history, Vice Chairman, Executive Secretary of ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Ali Ahmadov told party's website on March 4.
The claim on the "Armenian genocide" is based on the fact that as though during the First World War, the Armenians living in Anatolia were subjected to mass extermination. Turkey considers the events just as the Armenian-Turkish confrontation.

The idea of bringing the question into debate was made by chairman of the committee on foreign affairs of the U.S. Congress Howard Berman.

According to Ahmadov, actually this fact should be regarded as a support to falsify the history.

"Such support of the U.S. Congress to falsify the history may encourage some to falsification. On the other hand, adopting such a document, or attempts in this direction aims to exert pressure," deputy chairman said.

According to him, presenting a false issue to discussion does not correspond to either the criteria of truth or the criteria of justice.

"Another moment is that if the U.S. House of Representatives passes the draft resolution on the so-called genocide, it will prove that the US is ready to lose its friends and partners," he said.

NAP deputy chairman remembered that the United States and Turkey have repeatedly stated about the relations of friendship and cooperation. "If such a false document is adopted, it will show that the U.S. attaches no importance to friendship and cooperation. That is, the U.S. will show the degree of relationship to a friend and ally," said Ahmadov.

In his opinion, for Azerbaijan the important fact is that the U.S. Congress's adoption of this document will not only be a move against Turkey, but against Azerbaijan.
"The action against Azerbaijan's friend is directed against Azerbaijan," he said.

"Actualization of the issue is currently connected with the support to opening the Armenian-Turkish border, which is planned to be realized upon the scenario the United States. There are easily understandable mechanisms to improve relations and open borders between Turkey and Armenia. "The borders between Armenia and Turkey were closed as a protest against Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan. So, the decisive condition for opening the borders is Armenia's withdrawal from the occupied Azerbaijani territories. This is the only possible variant of solution. Even if the US bypassing these conditions intends to adopt a resolution on the so-called "Armenian genocide" to achieve the opening of the borders between Armenia and Turkey, I think this is disrespect for the mission undertaken by the US as the co-chairman of the Minsk Group," Ahmadov said.

According to the executive secretary, being the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairman, the US should be interested in supporting any step that will help solve the conflict.

"But actually we do not see it, on the contrary we witness the action against any step that will help solve the conflict. I think that it contradicts the logic of mediation, logic of justice and truth. I suppose that the position of free-thinking people will dominate in the United States and the resolution on so-called "Armenian genocide" will not be adopted," he said.
