BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The transit of products through Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province located in the southeastern part of the country decreased by 50 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024) compared to the same month of last year, customs inspector of the province Mohammad Ali Khashi said, Trend reports.
According to him, 36,368 tons of products were transported through Sistan and Baluchestan province in the first month. The products were transported by 1,815 trucks and 57 railcars.
Khashi stated that mainly rice, sulfur, cloth, dry fruits, spices, and cigarettes were transiting through the province.
The official stated that these products were in transit to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, the UAE, and Iraq.
To note, 17.8 million tons of products were transited through Iran last year. Transit increased by 36.5 percent compared to the previous year.
