The first informal meeting of EU foreign ministers and partner countries organized by Poland, Spain and EU evaluated as successful.
"We are pleased to note the fact that the first informal meeting of EU foreign ministers state member and partners by the initiative of "Eastern partnership" passed lively and the meeting can be evaluated as successful", said Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos on Monday at a press conference in Sopot.
On Monday in the Polish city of Sopot took place the first informal meeting of foreign ministers - members of the European Union initiative of "Eastern Partnership".
"We have done quite a lot of work for one year after the announcement of the initiative of "Eastern Partnership " and its implementation is successful. We openly declare that the Eastern Partnership - is a priority for the European Union," Moratinos said.
On of the most important criteria for the EU is to respect human rights, and in all meetings this matter is one of the most important moments of discussions for EU - this is a living organism and political decisions can't restrict its actions, EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule said.
"EU was involved by institutional matters during the last 10 years and now it's time for concrete action", said Fule.
EU is ready to cooperate with countries which are not included to the "Eastern Partnership", such as Russia, Japan and others, commissioner said.
This cooperation will take place within the bounds of the "Friends of the EU", he said.
Meeting in Sopot - the first informal meeting of foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership, organized under the patronage of the Spanish presidency in EU. The subject of discussion of 33 state foreign ministers and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy will primarily: practical implementation of the partnership; financing rules, schedule and methods of the regular stages of the implementation initiatives, opportunities for participation by the member-countries and partners in the implementation of actions and projects.
