The ruling New Azerbaijan Party broadly applies Western election technologies, Deputy Executive Secretary, MP Siyavush Novruzov said.

"We begin the electoral process not immediately after its official launch, but instead much earlier," he said. "We will be ready for each and every stage of the election. This is one reason for our success."

Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn 2010. The last legislative elections were held in November 2005. The parliamentary elections are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies in Azerbaijan.

Novruzov stressed that the ruling party is successfully continuing to prepare for the elections.

"The social and political situation in Azerbaijan in the run-up to the elections is normal," he said. "The government is taking the necessary measures to ensure free and transparent elections."

The New Azerbaijan Party was established in November 1992. Former President Heydar Aliyev was the party's first chairman. The party was registered by the Justice Ministry Dec. 18, 1992.

Aliyev was elected president Oct. 3, 1993. After his death in December 2003, President Ilham Aliyev became president. He became the party's chairman in March 2005.
