To date, the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered 394 local observers to oversee the parliamentary elections.
So far, 394 people appealed to the CEC to observe the elections in the entire country and all applications received a positive response, the commission reported.
Of them 27 received special permissions. 309 observers will monitor the elections upon their own initiative, 35 - political parties and 3 - the NGO. 40 observers will monitor the elections upon the Ombudsman's initiative.
The CEC will receive appeals for holding of observation activities in the country up to Oct.28
Those intending to observe the elections in any constituency may apply to the relevant constituency's election commission 5 days prior to the voting day that is until Nov.2.
Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
