An individual accused of committing an armed attack on members of employees of exchange office in Sumgait has committed more than four crimes in the city.
"The accused has committed more than four serious crimes in Sumgait and in the Haji Zeinalabdin Tagiyev settlement, and the investigators have evidence," Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov told journalists today.
On Feb. 20 an unknown gunmen shot dead currency exchange employee Vugar Balayev and stabbed his father Ismayil Balayev. A suspect has been identified but not yet arrested.
A criminal case was filed under Article 120.2.5 (premeditated murder committed for mercenary motives), 29, 120.5, 29, 120.27 (attempt to commit murder) and 228.1 (illegal purchase, transfer, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of firearms, component parts, ammunition (other than smooth-bore hunting weapons and ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code, the press services of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Interior Ministry said.
Garalov said that the investigation has progressed sufficiently and many important facts have been gathered.
"Trace samples left by the perpetrator at the scene, as well as from a minibus in which the criminal hid, and blood and hair samples have been taken," Garalov said.
