Azerbaijani Ambassador to Argentina Mammad Ahmadzadeh has officially assumed his duties.

Ahmadzadeh presented his credentials to Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez this week, the Argentinian presidential website reported.

The diplomatic mission's activities are vital from the standpoint of bilateral ties, as well as the effort to promote the truth about Azerbaijan in Argentina and South America, Ahmadzadeh said during his meeting with the president, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

Fernandez expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the first Azerbaijani embassy in South America. She also expressed confidence that the embassy will make a significant contribution to the development of bilateral ties.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Argentina opened this year.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an executive order appointing Ahmadzadeh as the country's ambassador to Argentina in May, the AzerTaj state news agency reported earlier.
