Russia appoints new co-chair to Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has approved Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin as the chairman of the Russian side of an Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. He replaced Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, RIA Novosti reported.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has approved Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin as the chairman of the Russian side of an Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. He replaced Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, RIA Novosti reported.

Putin signed the corresponding order on Nov. 12.

Shmatko served as co-chairman of the commission since June 2008.
