Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will attend events commemorating Richard Holbrooke in Washington today.
The renowned U.S. Diplomat died on Dec. 14 in a Washington hospital. The 69-year-old special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan felt unwell and was sent to the hospital at George Washington University directly from the State Department building. He died at the hospital.
Saakashvili called Holbrooke a friend and his "most valuable adviser."
A street in Tbilisi was named in honor of the diplomat after his death upon the president's initiative.
