Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 1 / Trend M.Aliyev /

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) believes official requests must be sent to the U.S. and British embassies to demand an explanation for the information about threat of terrorist attack in Azerbaijan spread by these countries.

"The U.S. and British Embassies turned to the fellow citizens living in Azerbaijan with an appeal for vigilance and warned of the threat of terrorist attack in our country. This matter should be investigated on the ground," NAP Deputy Executive Secretary, MP Mubariz Gurbanli said. "The Embassies should be sent a request with the requirement to explain on what grounds they distribute such information. Socio-political stability is observed in Azerbaijan."

NAP Deputy Chairman Ali Ahmedov also finds it necessary to demand an explanation for the spread of such warnings.

"Some may take attempts to undermine the social and political stability in Azerbaijan. But I want to publicly declare that there is no danger to the citizens or the country's guest in Azerbaijan. We must continue to seek to preserve and strengthen stability in the country. Every Azerbaijani must express attention to the groundless information," he added.

Earlier, the U.S. State Department and the British Foreign Ministry warned citizens about terrorist threats in Azerbaijan and called for citizens to be vigilant in the country.

The country is taking all of the necessary measures to prevent threats to national security, Azerbaijani National Security Ministry Spokesman Arif Babayev told Trend earlier.

He added that the relevant bodies of Azerbaijan, including the National Security Ministry, are in control of the situation in the country.
