Azerbaijan, Turkey intend to open consulates in Karbala
Azerbaijan, Baku, June 23 / Trend /
Azerbaijan and Turkey officially appealed the Iraqi Karbala city's authorities regarding the opening of consulates in the city, Iraqi media outlets quote Karbala Governorate Council Chairman Mohammed Musawi as saying.
"One of the goals of opening these consulates is observing their countries' pilgrims," Musawi said.
He said local authorities are waiting for the completion of all necessary legal and diplomatic procedures for these consulates to open.
He also pointed out that the only consulate in Karbala is the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which opened last year.
