Iranian army controls 20 percent of Caspian Sea
Iran controls 20 percent of the sea with the help of its armed forces to protect its interests in the Caspian Sea, Iranian Naval Commander Habibullah Sayari was quoted by the Mehr news agency as saying.
"The peaceful Caspian Sea is the guarantee of friendly relations between the countries on its shores," he said. "The international laws must be applied in this sea with the consent of the five Caspian littoral countries."
The 28th meeting of the special working group was held in Azerbaijan in April to define the legal status of the Caspian Sea. The delegations were headed by deputy foreign ministers and special representatives.
