The head of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergei Naryshkin called on Azerbaijan to intensify collaboration between the two countries to coordinate steps in the international arena as the Republic was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in October, RIA Novosti reported.

In late October the UN General Assembly elected Azerbaijan as a new non-permanent member of the Security Council over the next two years.

"In this regard, we have more joint work in terms of coordination of our steps in the international arena," Naryshkin said at a meeting with the head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev. "So, we should work."

Naryshkin and Mehdiyev discussed bilateral relations and international issues.
"We have recently met during the international humanitarian forum in Baku in October," Naryshkin said.

He stressed that the forum was an event of international importance. The foreign countries strongly reacted to this.

"We hope that we will continue implementing this project together," he said.
He also called the Congress of Azerbaijani Diaspora in Moscow as a great event.
In turn Mehdiyev stressed that the two presidents stroke a key note in the interaction between the two countries.

"This is a good basis for strengthening and developing the relations," he said.
Mehdiyev said the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are at their peak of development.

"There are no unsolvable problems between the two countries," he said. "All problems are solved in a timely manner and on a friendly basis."
