CEC: All polling stations in Azerbaijan ready for presidential election

A monitoring operation was carried out in Azerbaijan to verify the readiness of all 125 election districts for the democratic and transparent presidential election, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at a briefing on Monday.

A monitoring operation was carried out in Azerbaijan to verify the readiness of all 125 election districts for the democratic and transparent presidential election, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at a briefing on Monday.

According to the CEC Chairman, the polling stations and districts must meet all modern requirements.

"About 5300 permanent and 219 temporary polling stations are fully ready for the election," Panahov said.

The final number of registered candidates is now 10.

These candidates are: the chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, chairman of the Umid Party Igbal Aghazade, self-nominated candidate, MP Zahid Oruj, chairman of the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, MP Gudrat Hasanguliev, chairman of the Modern Musavat Party Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Araz Alizade, chairman of the National Revival Movement party, MP Faraj Guliyev, the candidate nominated by the initiative group of voters of the National Council of the democratic forces Jamil Hasanli, chairman of Adalat party MP Ilyas Ismayilov and chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party Sardar Jalaloglu.

The presidential election in Azerbaijan will held on October 9.
